Mood of the Market

We conduct a quarterly survey of technology professionals in central Iowa to get some feedback on a few topics related to the job market, economy and other topical issues. Here’s the latest one, conducted at the end of November, with data compared to the fourth quarter of last year.

Overall, attitudes have improved as far as it relates to the job market. We included a new question this time, asking tech pros if they consider themselves ”underemployed.” 30 percent say yes (representing a segment of the workforce most likely to move as the economy improves). Facebook is the #1 social media tool among tech pros (63 percent use it; LinkedIn is second with 53 percent); 31 percent said their company blocked access to Facebook in 2009.
